In Verse: Poetry in Place, Community in Heart

The Doan Foundation is proud to serve as the fiscal sponsor for Poetry & Places, a youth-led organization dedicated to empowering community through the power of words.

In 2026, Poetry & Places will launch In Verse, a recurring series of poetry nights hosted at local businesses across San Diego County. These events are free and open to the public, creating inclusive spaces where poetry and storytelling bring people together.

Each In Verse night will highlight the voices of young poets, emerging artists, and community members, while also spotlighting the restaurants, cafés, and venues that host them. Guests will be able to experience live spoken word while supporting local businesses, transforming everyday spaces into cultural gathering places.

Through this partnership, The Doan Foundation provides nonprofit infrastructure and fiscal sponsorship to Poetry & Places, ensuring that contributions to In Verse are fully tax-deductible while remaining true to its mission. The Doan Foundation does not take any fees or percentages — every dollar raised goes directly toward making In Verse possible.
